Start on the Filter tab, and apply any filters you think are relevant to your project (e.g. serif vs sans-serif, thickness, slant, width, etc).
Scan through the fonts and heart any that look interesting. You can review the hearted fonts side-by-side on the Fonts tab, making it easier to compare them.
Click on any font to go to its individual page, where you can see related fonts and style variants to further hone your selection. Keep hearting interesting fonts as you go.
Sometimes it can help to take a step back. The fonts are all organized by similarity into a tree, so going up the tabs gives you a broader view, widening the selection of fonts.
If you already have a design or mockup, then be sure to Preview On Your Design, as it makes it much easier to evaluate fit.
Once you've narrowed down your selection, either download them or use the
Copy Sample feature to quickly preview it in your design software.
