This is a traditional serif with bracketed serifs, a clear diagonal (calligraphic) stress, and noticeable thick–thin modulation. Capitals are stately and well-proportioned, with crisp wedge-like serifs and smooth curves in bowls and rounds. Lowercase shows a readable, bookish rhythm with open counters, a two-storey “g,” a compact “e,” and a distinctly serifed “t,” while the overall texture stays even without feeling rigid. Numerals appear oldstyle (text) figures with ascenders and descenders, aligning visually with the lowercase and reinforcing a classic text color.

It fits best in extended reading settings such as books, essays, and editorial layouts where a familiar serif rhythm supports comfortable scanning. The oldstyle figures and balanced lowercase make it especially appropriate for narrative text, footnotes, and scholarly pages that mix letters and numerals frequently.

The font conveys a composed, literary tone—traditional and trustworthy rather than attention-seeking. Its contrast and serif detail add a sense of refinement and formality, suitable for serious or cultured contexts.

The design appears aimed at a conventional, workhorse text serif that prioritizes readability and established typographic norms. Its proportions, bracketed serifs, and restrained detailing suggest an intention to perform reliably in continuous text while still offering a polished, classic voice.

Stroke joins and serifs are smoothly bracketed, which softens the contrast and helps maintain a consistent page color in paragraphs. The italics shown in the sample text read as a complementary, gently sloped companion rather than a dramatic cursive, preserving the family’s reserved, editorial character.
