A high-contrast serif with strongly bracketed, wedge-like serifs and a pronounced thick–thin modulation that reads as calligraphic rather than geometric. Capitals are broad and stately with sharp terminals and confident vertical stress, while lowercase forms show traditional text-seriffing, compact bowls, and a moderate, steady rhythm. Curves are smooth and slightly tensioned, with crisp joins and narrow hairlines that give the face a polished, print-oriented look. Numerals follow the same contrast and serif treatment, pairing prominent verticals with delicate connecting strokes.

Well suited to book and long-form editorial typography where a traditional serif voice is desired, and especially effective for magazine headlines, pull quotes, and display settings that can showcase the sharp hairlines. It can also support formal materials such as invitations and programs where a classic, refined tone is appropriate.

The overall tone is classic and authoritative, with a refined, bookish seriousness. Its sharp hairlines and sculpted serifs add a sense of ceremony and tradition, making the voice feel formal and editorial rather than casual or utilitarian.

The design appears intended to deliver a conventional, heritage serif impression with heightened contrast and crisp detailing, balancing readability with a more elevated, display-friendly elegance. Its proportions and serif shaping suggest an emphasis on traditional typography cues and a composed, formal texture on the page.

The italic is not shown, but in roman settings the face relies on strong verticals and delicate hairlines for hierarchy. At larger sizes the sculpted serifs and contrast become especially expressive, while at smaller sizes the thin strokes may demand careful size and reproduction conditions to stay clean.
