This is a classic serif with pronounced thick–thin modulation and clear, bracketed serifs. Curves show a subtle diagonal stress, and the joins feel slightly calligraphic rather than purely geometric. Proportions are moderate with a steady rhythm in text, while capitals carry more presence through strong verticals and crisp terminals. The lowercase includes a two-storey “a” and “g,” compact apertures, and gently tapered strokes that keep the texture lively. Numerals appear oldstyle with varied heights and descenders, matching the text-oriented color of the lowercase.

It works well for long-form reading such as books, essays, and editorial layouts where a classic serif voice is desired. The strong capitals and refined details also suit formal branding, headings, and pull quotes, especially when paired with generous leading.

The overall tone is traditional and polished, with a distinctly editorial, bookish character. It reads as composed and dependable, suited to conveying authority and seriousness without feeling rigid or mechanical.

The design appears intended as a conventional, text-first serif that balances elegance with practicality. Its high-contrast, calligraphic construction and oldstyle numerals point toward comfortable, traditional typography for publishing and formal communications.

In continuous text the contrast and relatively tight counters create a dark, confident color, while the bracketing and softened transitions keep it comfortable for reading. The italics are not shown; the upright roman carries most of the personality through stress and serif shaping.
