This is a classic serif with bracketed, slightly flared serifs and a dark, bookish color. Strokes show moderate modulation with gently tapered joins and subtly calligraphic shaping, especially in curved letters and diagonals. The capitals are sturdy and well-proportioned with crisp beak-like terminals on forms like C, G, and S, while the lowercase has compact proportions and a notably small x-height. Details such as the two-storey a, the curved-foot y, and the narrow, slightly tapered i/j/l give the face a refined, traditional rhythm. Numerals appear oldstyle with varying heights and extenders, blending naturally with running text.

Well-suited to book typography and long-form editorial settings where a traditional serif texture is desired. It can also serve effectively for chapter titles, pull quotes, and formal headings where its crisp serifs and classic proportions convey authority and heritage.

The overall tone feels traditional and literary, with a composed, slightly authoritative voice typical of established print typography. Its sharp terminals and restrained contrast add a formal, editorial presence without becoming ornate.

The design appears intended as a conventional, workhorse text serif with a classic print sensibility, aiming for a familiar, trustworthy reading experience while adding a touch of calligraphic sharpness in terminals and curves.

The small x-height and relatively prominent ascenders/descenders create a spacious vertical texture, and the letterforms maintain a consistent, sturdy baseline. The italics are not shown, but the roman includes many subtle ink-trap-like nicks and tapering that read as intentionally crisp rather than purely geometric.
