Distressed Nafu 1 is a light, wide, medium contrast, upright, normal x-height font.

A serifed, typewriter-like design with visibly irregular outlines and chipped, broken terminals that mimic worn metal type or degraded printing. Strokes are relatively slender with moderate thick–thin modulation, and the character construction stays fairly traditional while allowing lots of edge noise and occasional ink spread. Counters are open and legible, but the contour wobble and speckled erosion introduce a lively, imperfect texture. Spacing reads natural and text-friendly, with slightly uneven rhythm caused by the distressed details rather than extreme shape distortion.

Works well for titles, pull quotes, and short-to-medium passages where a worn print texture is desirable—such as editorial layouts, vintage-inspired posters, record sleeves, packaging, and film or game title cards. It can also suit faux-typewriter documents, labels, or props where legibility matters but perfection would feel out of place.

The overall tone is archival and tactile—like an old document, stamped label, or photocopied page that’s been handled and reprinted many times. It feels gritty and authentic rather than polished, carrying a quiet sense of history and wear.

The design appears intended to capture the familiarity of classic serif/typewriter letterforms while adding convincing degradation—chipping, ink spread, and rough printing artifacts—to quickly signal age, tactility, and analog character in display and text settings.

In continuous text, the distressing remains consistent across letters, giving paragraphs a coherent “printed patina.” Numerals and capitals hold their structure well, while the rough edges and occasional blotting do most of the expressive work.
