A right-leaning serif with sturdy, slab-like serifs and subtly bracketed joins that keep the forms from feeling rigid. Strokes show moderate contrast with a calligraphic, slightly diagonal stress, and the wide set plus generous counters create an open, readable texture. Terminals and serifs often resolve into flat, squared shapes, while curves (notably in C, S, and O) remain smooth and steady. Lowercase shows a tall x-height with compact ascenders and descenders, giving lines a strong horizontal presence and an even, text-ready rhythm.

Well suited to editorial settings such as magazines, long-form articles, and book typography where an italic voice is needed without sacrificing density and clarity. Its wide footprint and strong serifs also make it effective for headlines, pull quotes, and branding systems that want a classic, print-informed personality.

The tone is assertive and editorial: traditional enough to feel credible, but energetic due to the italic slant and broad stance. It carries a classic print sensibility—scholarly and slightly retro—without becoming overly formal.

The design appears intended to provide a dependable italic companion with a robust slab-serif backbone—maintaining high readability in text while adding emphasis and character through width, strong serifs, and controlled contrast.

Figures are oldstyle-like in feel with varied proportions and clear differentiation, and punctuation and caps maintain the same robust serif treatment for consistent color in paragraphs. The italic construction stays readable at text sizes, with smooth joins and restrained flourishes rather than script-like gestures.
