This is a high-contrast serif with crisp, bracketed serifs and a distinctly calligraphic stress pattern. Strokes transition quickly from thick to hairline, with fine entry/exit terminals and slightly tapered joins that keep the texture lively. Uppercase forms are stately and proportioned with generous interior space, while the lowercase shows a traditional book-face rhythm with a two-storey “a,” a two-storey “g” with a small ear, and relatively narrow, vertical stems. The numerals appear oldstyle in proportion, mixing ascenders and descenders and matching the lowercase color.

It fits comfortably in book and editorial typography where a traditional serif voice is desired, especially in print settings. The high contrast and fine details also suit display applications such as chapter openings, pull quotes, and refined headlines, provided reproduction is clean enough to preserve hairlines.

The overall tone is classic and literary, evoking traditional publishing and established institutions. Its sharp hairlines and elegant serifing convey refinement and seriousness, while the open counters help it stay readable and composed at text sizes.

The design appears intended as a conventional, readable text serif with a refined, old-style sensibility, balancing open counters and measured proportions against a more elegant, high-contrast stroke model. It aims to deliver a familiar, trustworthy typographic voice suitable for sustained reading and formal communication.

The face maintains a clear baseline discipline and consistent serif behavior across capitals and lowercase, producing a confident, even paragraph color despite the pronounced contrast. Diacritics aren’t shown; the impression here comes from the strong thick–thin modulation and the traditional, bookish construction of key lowercase forms.
