This typeface is a slanted serif with sturdy, blocky slab serifs that are mostly bracketed into the stems. Strokes show moderate contrast with a noticeably calligraphic flavor: curves appear slightly stressed and joins are soft rather than mechanical, while terminals and serifs keep a firm, square-edged footprint. Capitals are relatively compact with crisp verticals and generous interior space, and the lowercase has an oldstyle rhythm with a single‑storey “a” and angled entry strokes. Figures follow the same italic construction, with open counters and strong baseline anchoring.

It suits editorial typography where an italic voice needs to carry real weight—magazine features, book typography, introductions, and pull quotes. The sturdy slab serifs also make it effective for short-to-medium headlines and subheads that want a classic, slightly formal character without becoming brittle.

The overall tone feels bookish and traditional, with an approachable warmth that comes from its calligraphic slant and softly modeled curves. At the same time, the slab serifs add a grounded, practical authority, giving it a confident editorial voice rather than a purely ornamental one.

The design appears intended to merge the readability and tradition of an oldstyle italic with the sturdiness and presence of slab serifs, creating a utilitarian yet expressive serif for editorial settings. The goal seems to be a dependable italic that can function as both emphasis and a primary texture in longer passages.

In text, the diagonal motion is consistent and keeps lines lively, while the heavier slab feet and clear counters help maintain clarity. The ampersand and punctuation inherit the same italic energy, supporting continuous reading without looking overly delicate.
