A high-contrast serif with sharp hairlines, weighty stems, and bracketed wedge-like serifs that create a crisp, engraved rhythm. Curves show a mostly vertical stress, with rounded bowls that narrow into fine joins and tapered terminals. Lowercase forms are compact and sturdy, with distinct ball terminals on letters like a and f, a two-storey g, and a narrow, pointed t with a small crossbar. Capitals are broad and stately with prominent serifs and clean, classical proportions; the numerals appear oldstyle with noticeable ascenders/descenders and strong thick–thin modulation.

It performs best where a classic, high-contrast serif is expected: headlines, subheads, pull quotes, and cover typography, as well as refined editorial layouts. In longer passages it can work effectively at comfortable sizes and leading, especially for print-oriented book and magazine settings where its traditional color and detailing are an asset.

The overall tone is refined and conventional, projecting authority and a bookish, editorial sensibility. Its pronounced contrast and sharp detailing add a sense of ceremony and seriousness, suited to traditional publishing and formal communication.

The design appears intended as a conventional, classically influenced text serif with heightened contrast for a more assertive, display-friendly presence. It balances readable, familiar letterforms with sharper detailing and strong vertical emphasis to convey polish and authority.

Spacing reads generous in the sample text, helping the strong contrast and dark color hold together in large sizes without looking brittle. The design shows consistent serif shaping and terminal treatment across upper- and lowercase, giving paragraphs a cohesive, classical texture.
