A high-contrast serif with sculpted, flaring terminals and strongly bracketed serifs that give strokes a chiseled, carved feel. Vertical stems dominate and swell into wedge-like endings, while hairlines are thin and crisp, creating a pronounced thick–thin rhythm. The capitals are broad and stately with sharp apexes (notably in A and V/W forms) and decisive, slightly triangular serif feet. Lowercase shows a traditional, text-oriented structure with compact bowls, a two-storey a, a single-storey g with a pronounced ear, and a robust t whose crossbar reads as a tapered, blade-like stroke; numerals are similarly weighty with clear, oldstyle-like curvature and strong contrast.

Best suited to headlines, subheads, pull quotes, and other display roles where its contrast and flared serif character can be appreciated. It can work for editorial applications such as magazine titling or section openers, and for branding or packaging that aims for a classic-yet-dramatic voice. For longer passages, it will be most comfortable at larger text sizes with ample line spacing to prevent the strong serifs and contrast from feeling crowded.

The overall tone is authoritative and theatrical, combining classical bookish cues with a more expressive, engraved edge. Its crisp hairlines and flaring endings add a sense of ceremony and emphasis, making it feel suited to assertive statements rather than neutral narrative. The rhythm reads confident and slightly dramatic, with a refined but forceful presence at display sizes.

The design appears intended to deliver a traditional serif voice with added impact through pronounced stroke modulation and flaring terminals. It prioritizes visual authority and sculptural detail, aiming for strong recognition in titling contexts while retaining familiar, readable structures in the lowercase.

In running sample text, the strong contrast and flared details create rich texture and visible sparkle, especially around joins and terminals. The letterforms favor sharp, tapered points and pronounced stroke modulation, which helps headlines feel energetic while keeping a traditional serif backbone. Spacing appears tuned for display: the black weight and prominent serifs create dense word shapes that benefit from generous size and leading.
