A crisp, high-contrast serif with bracketed serifs, tapered joins, and a steady vertical stress that reads cleanly at text sizes. Capitals are stately and moderately wide with sharp apexes (notably in A and W) and firm, straight stems. Lowercase forms show a traditional text rhythm with compact bowls and distinct, slightly calligraphic terminals; the two-storey a and g reinforce its bookish tone, while the long, descending j and the lively y add graceful movement. Numerals include oldstyle figures with ascenders and descenders, contributing to a traditional, page-like texture in running text.

Well-suited to book typography, essays, and magazine/editorial layouts where a traditional serif texture is desired. It can also serve as a dignified display face for headlines, titles, and pull quotes, especially where a classic, high-contrast look supports the content.

The overall tone is classic and literary, with a formal, editorial voice that feels established and trustworthy. Its sharp contrast and disciplined detailing lend it an authoritative presence, while the subtly calligraphic shaping keeps it from feeling mechanical.

The design appears intended as a conventional, high-contrast text serif that prioritizes readability and an established print-like aesthetic. Its oldstyle numerals and carefully shaped serifs suggest an emphasis on traditional composition and refined typographic color for sustained reading.

Spacing and proportions appear balanced for paragraphs, producing an even grayscale despite the pronounced thick–thin modulation. The italic is not shown, but the roman includes clear hierarchy between capitals and lowercase and a refined treatment of terminals and serifs suitable for extended reading.
