A robust serif with pronounced thick–thin modulation and crisp, bracketed serifs. The letterforms are upright and generously proportioned, with broad capitals, sturdy stems, and smooth, rounded joins that keep the heavy weight from feeling clumsy. Lowercase counters are fairly open, with a two-storey “a” and “g” and noticeable ball terminals on letters like “a,” “c,” “f,” and “y.” Numerals appear oldstyle, showing varying heights and extenders that integrate with the text rhythm rather than sitting uniformly on the baseline.

It performs especially well for headlines, subheads, and display typography where its high-contrast strokes and confident serifs can read cleanly at size. The oldstyle figures and traditional proportions also make it a strong option for editorial layouts, book covers, and formal branding that wants a classic serif voice with extra weight.

The overall tone is classic and authoritative, with a distinctly editorial, bookish presence. Its strong contrast and weight give it a confident, traditional voice suited to established institutions and print-forward design.

The design appears intended as a conventional text-serif model pushed into a heavier, more display-capable register, balancing traditional construction with a strong, print-ready presence.

In text, the heavy color and firm serifs create clear word shapes and a steady horizontal flow, while the ball terminals add a slightly warm, slightly decorative finish. The ampersand is compact and bold, matching the assertive texture of the alphabet.
