A high-contrast serif with a broad stance and firmly vertical posture. Stems are heavy while hairlines and joins taper sharply, with a generally vertical stress that gives counters a sculpted, engraved feel. Serifs are bracketed and flare with pointed, wedge-like endings, and several lowercase forms show soft ball terminals and teardrop-like finishes. Proportions are generous and varied—wide rounds, sturdy capitals, and a comparatively low x-height—creating a rhythmic, display-leaning texture that remains readable in text settings.

Best suited to headline and titling work, magazine and book editorial typography, and prominent callouts such as pull quotes where contrast and character are assets. It can also serve as a text face for short passages or feature copy when a strong, classical tone is desired, particularly at comfortable sizes and with adequate leading.

The font projects a traditional, editorial voice with a confident, slightly theatrical edge. Its sharp contrast and flaring serifs evoke bookish authority and old-style refinement, while the pronounced terminals add personality and warmth. Overall it feels formal and literary rather than neutral.

The design appears intended to deliver a conventional serif foundation with heightened contrast and expressive finishing, balancing traditional bookish forms with display-ready drama. Its wide proportions and emphatic stroke modulation aim for presence and elegance rather than neutrality.

Capitals read as monumental and steady, with strong horizontals and crisp diagonals in letters like V, W, and X. Numerals are similarly stylized, with noticeable curvature and terminal shaping that keeps them consistent with the letterforms. In continuous text the dark color and contrast produce an emphatic typographic presence, especially at larger sizes.
