A slanted serif with pronounced thick–thin modulation and crisp, bracketed wedge serifs. Strokes show a calligraphic, pen-driven construction: joins are lively, terminals often taper, and curves carry a slightly engraved tension rather than geometric smoothness. The capitals are broad and sturdy with sharp serifs and strong diagonals, while the lowercase features energetic shapes and occasional swashy behavior (notably in letters like a, g, y, and z). Numerals follow the same italic rhythm, with curving forms and clear contrast that reads best when given a bit of size and air.

Well suited to editorial headlines, magazine features, book-cover titling, and prominent pull quotes where its contrast and italic motion can add emphasis. It can also serve for short introductions, captions, or highlighted passages when you want a classic serif voice with extra energy.

The overall tone is traditional and editorial, combining a bookish authority with a dynamic, forward-leaning urgency. It feels formal and established, but with enough flourish to suggest headline drama and classic print culture rather than minimal modernity.

The design appears intended to deliver a conventional serif foundation with an expressive italic personality—strong contrast, sharp serifs, and calligraphic modulation aimed at confident, attention-getting typography. It prioritizes character and emphasis over neutrality, aligning with display-forward editorial use.

In text settings, the strong contrast and sharp detailing create a dark, confident color with a distinct diagonal flow; spacing and stroke flare give it a slightly decorative edge compared with plain oldstyle italics. The design’s character comes through quickly, so it tends to dominate the page if used for long stretches at small sizes.
