A crisp, high-contrast serif with bracketed serifs and a distinctly vertical, upright posture. The capitals are compact and stately, with sharp apexes (A, V, W) and clean, flat serifs that keep the rhythm steady in lines of text. Lowercase forms show a moderate x-height with clear counters and tapered joins; details like the double-storey a, compact e, and the angled ear on g reinforce a traditional book-face structure. Figures appear oldstyle with varying heights and strong thick–thin modulation, matching the text color and giving numerals a literary tone.

Well-suited to long-form reading in books and periodicals where a traditional serif texture is desired, and it also scales effectively for headlines and pull quotes thanks to its strong contrast and crisp detailing. The oldstyle numerals make it a natural fit for text with frequent dates, references, or footnote-style numbering.

The overall tone is classic and formal, with an editorial seriousness that feels suited to established publishing and institutional communication. Its sharp contrast and tidy finishing lend a refined, slightly assertive voice rather than a soft or casual one.

The design appears intended as a conventional, publishing-oriented serif that prioritizes a familiar reading rhythm while adding refinement through strong contrast, careful serif shaping, and classic proportions.

Stroke modulation is prominent on rounded letters (C, O, S) and in diagonals (K, X), creating a bright, lively texture at display sizes while remaining orderly in paragraph settings. The Q features a distinctive, calligraphic tail, and the sturdy crossbars and firm serifs help maintain clarity in mixed-case text.
