A high-contrast italic serif with a pronounced rightward slant and sharp, tapered terminals. Strokes shift from very thin hairlines to sturdy main stems, and the serifs are fine and bracketed, giving a crisp, engraved feel without becoming brittle. The lowercase shows clear cursive influence—single-storey “a,” a looped “g,” and a long, descending “f”—with lively entry/exit strokes and moderate spacing that keeps lines fluid. Capitals are slightly narrower and more sculpted, with pointed apexes and clean crossbars, creating a disciplined rhythm that still reads energetic in continuous text.

Well suited for book and long-form typography as a dedicated italic, especially for emphasis, quotations, and cited material. It also fits editorial layouts—magazines, essays, and cultural publications—where a refined italic voice is needed for headings, pull quotes, and short display lines.

The overall tone is traditional and polished, with an editorial elegance that suggests literature, academia, and established institutions. Its strong contrast and angled forms add a sense of motion and sophistication, making it feel more expressive than a plain text italic while remaining composed and formal.

The design appears intended to provide a classic, readable italic with strong contrast and a cultivated, old-style sensibility. It aims to balance tradition and expressiveness: crisp detail for high-end typography, paired with a rhythmic, calligraphic flow that holds together in paragraphs.

In running text, the italic construction is assertive and continuous, so it benefits from comfortable leading and sizes where the hairlines don’t disappear. Numerals appear oldstyle-like in posture and styling, with noticeable slant and varied forms that harmonize with the text’s calligraphic cadence.
