A robust serif with bracketed, wedge-like serifs and a strong, dark color on the page. Strokes show moderate modulation with clear thick–thin relationships, while keeping counters open and forms stable at text sizes. The design favors broad, rounded bowls (notably in O/Q/C) paired with firm verticals and slightly tapered terminals, producing a sturdy rhythm. Lowercase shows a two-storey a and g, a compact ear on g, and a relatively upright, workmanlike structure; figures are lining and similarly weighty, with generous curves and confident joins.

It performs especially well in headlines, subheads, and editorial layouts where a strong serif voice is needed. The sturdy shapes and open counters also make it suitable for book typography at moderate sizes, as well as brand applications like packaging or institutional communications that benefit from a traditional, authoritative tone.

The overall tone is classic and editorial, projecting authority and readability rather than ornament. Its heavy presence feels assertive and traditional, with a bookish, newspaper-like seriousness suited to content-forward typography.

The design appears intended as a conventional text serif optimized for a dark, confident typographic color and dependable readability. Its proportions and restrained detailing suggest a focus on practical editorial use—delivering impact in display while remaining composed in continuous reading.

Spacing appears intentionally substantial, helping the dense weight breathe in longer settings. The ampersand and punctuation adopt the same sturdy, no-nonsense construction, reinforcing a consistent texture across mixed-case text.
