A high-contrast serif with pronounced flaring and softly bracketed terminals that give stems a sculpted, ink-trap-free feel. The letterforms are relatively broad with sturdy verticals and crisp, tapering joins, creating a lively thick–thin rhythm. Serifs read as wedge-like and slightly curved rather than blunt, and many strokes end in subtle teardrop or beaked shapes that hint at calligraphic construction. Counters are moderately open, while curves (C, G, S, O) show careful tension and a slightly condensed inner space typical of display-oriented serifs. Numerals are robust and traditional in stance, with an open-top 4 and strongly weighted 8/9 forms that match the text’s dark color.

Best suited to headlines, decks, pull quotes, and other editorial display roles where its bold color and high-contrast detailing can be appreciated. It can also support premium branding, packaging, and book-cover typography, especially where a classic serif voice with a bit of drama is desired.

The overall tone is confident and editorial, combining classic bookish manners with a slightly dramatic, crafted presence. It feels authoritative and refined rather than delicate, projecting a sense of tradition with a touch of warmth and personality.

The design appears intended to deliver a traditional serif reading of authority and heritage while adding flair through flared endings and calligraphic detailing. Its broad proportions and emphatic contrast suggest prioritizing impact and character in display settings over ultra-neutral text invisibility.

The texture in paragraph setting is dense and even, with strong vertical stress and clear differentiation between round and straight forms. Notable character cues include a double-storey “a,” a single-storey “g,” and a distinctive, sweeping “j” descender, all contributing to a recognizable voice at headline sizes.
