A robust serif with pronounced thick–thin modulation and strongly bracketed, wedge-like serifs. The capitals are broad and steady, with generous bowls (notably in C, G, O, Q) and crisp terminals that keep the texture sharp. Lowercase forms lean oldstyle in their construction, showing a two-storey a, compact e, and a single-storey g with a rounded ear; counters remain open despite the heavy strokes. Overall spacing and rhythm create a dark, continuous text color with clear vertical stress and confident, slightly compact joins.

Well suited to editorial typography where a confident, traditional voice is desired, including magazine features, opinion pages, and book typography. It also works effectively for headlines, titling, and packaging or branding that needs a classic serif presence with strong emphasis.

The font conveys a traditional, bookish seriousness with an editorial, institutional tone. Its weight and contrast add a sense of authority and ceremony, making it feel composed and dependable rather than casual or playful.

The design appears intended to deliver a conventional text serif voice with elevated impact: familiar proportions and readable construction, reinforced by bold presence and high-contrast detailing for strong hierarchy in editorial and display contexts.

At larger sizes the sculpted serifs and contrast become a defining feature, while in dense setting the weight produces a strong, ink-rich presence. Numerals follow the same sturdy serifed logic, maintaining the font’s stately rhythm in mixed text.
