A robust serif with pronounced thick–thin contrast and bracketed, wedge-like serifs that give the shapes a carved, print-forward feel. The letters show a subtle diagonal stress, with rounded joins and occasional ball-like terminals that soften the otherwise sturdy construction. Proportions are generously set with broad capitals and full bowls, while counters remain open and readable. The lowercase has a classic book-face rhythm with a two-storey a and g, a compact e with a small eye, and sturdy verticals that maintain even color in text despite the strong contrast.

Well suited to editorial typography such as books, magazines, and newspaper-style layouts, where its strong serifs and contrast create a confident reading texture. It can also serve effectively in headlines, pull quotes, and institutional or heritage-leaning branding where a classic serif voice is appropriate.

The overall tone is traditional and authoritative, with an unmistakably editorial, bookish presence. It feels formal and dependable—suited to contexts where a classic, established voice is desired rather than a trendy or experimental one.

The design appears intended as a conventional, text-first serif with enough weight and contrast to hold up in display sizes while still producing a familiar, bookish rhythm in paragraphs. Its oldstyle numerals and traditional detailing suggest an emphasis on long-form publishing and typographic continuity with classic printing conventions.

The numerals appear oldstyle (with varying heights and descenders), reinforcing a literary, text-oriented character. Uppercase forms are stately and stable, while lowercase details (like the ear/terminals) add a hint of warmth without becoming decorative.
