This serif shows a pronounced thick–thin modulation with strong vertical stress, pairing robust main stems with very fine hairlines. Serifs are sharp and largely unbracketed, creating crisp starts and stops and a distinctly engraved feel. Capitals are tall and stately with generous internal space (notably in C, G, O, Q), while the lowercase has compact proportions and a short x-height that emphasizes ascenders and descenders. Curves are smooth and slightly calligraphic, and width varies noticeably between glyphs, producing a lively, rhythmic texture in text.

It performs best at display and headline sizes where the hairlines and sharp serifs can remain clear. The strong contrast and classic proportions suit editorial typography, book and magazine titling, pull quotes, and refined brand moments where a traditional voice is desired.

The overall tone is refined and traditional, with an editorial formality that reads as confident and composed. The extreme contrast adds a touch of drama, making the face feel polished and slightly theatrical without becoming ornamental. It carries a literary, bookish presence that suggests heritage and authority.

The design appears intended to deliver a classic, high-contrast serif voice with crisp detailing and a vertical, formal posture. Its short x-height and dramatic modulation prioritize elegance and hierarchy over purely utilitarian text rendering, aiming for a cultured, print-forward look.

Round letters keep open counters despite the thin joins, while some characters introduce distinctive gestures—such as a looping descender on the y, a curled tail on the j, and a swashed, calligraphic 2. Numerals mix sturdy verticals with delicate cross-strokes, matching the text color and contrast of the alphabet.
