A robust serif with pronounced thick–thin modulation and crisp, bracketed wedge serifs. The letterforms feel broadly proportioned with steady vertical stress, producing a confident, spacious rhythm. Counters are relatively open for the weight, and stroke endings are sharply defined, giving a clean, print-oriented finish. The lowercase shows traditional text-serifs cues—two-storey a and g, a compact e, and a straight, sturdy t—while the uppercase maintains strong, even presence and clear internal spacing.

Well-suited to editorial typography where a strong serif presence is desired, such as magazine headlines, book titles and covers, and opinion or feature layouts. The weight and contrast also make it effective for posters and display settings that benefit from a classic, authoritative tone.

The overall tone is classic and editorial, with a formal, authoritative voice that reads as traditional rather than decorative. Its strong contrast and sharp serifs evoke book typography and institutional print, lending a sense of seriousness and craft.

The design appears intended as a conventional text serif with heightened presence: traditional construction and familiar forms combined with punchy contrast and crisp serifs to deliver an assertive, print-centric reading experience.

Numerals appear sturdy and old-style in spirit, with noticeable shaping and serifed terminals that match the text forms. In running text the dark color and broad proportions create emphatic texture, favoring clarity and impact over delicacy.
