A very heavy, high-contrast serif with compact proportions and sharply modeled strokes. Serifs are small and assertive with a mix of bracketed joins and wedge-like endings, giving letters crisp corners and a carved, print-like finish. Counters are relatively tight and the internal shapes stay sturdy at bold sizes, while the strong thick–thin transitions add a distinctly engraved rhythm. Lowercase shows conventional proportions with a moderate x-height, rounded bowls, and occasional ball/teardrop terminals (notably in forms like a, j, and y), contributing to an energetic texture. Numerals are weighty and punchy, with clear old-style serif detailing and a slightly idiosyncratic “1” and “7” treatment that reads well in display settings.

Best suited for headlines, subheads, mastheads, and cover typography where a dense, high-impact serif is desired. It also fits packaging and branding that benefits from a traditional, print-forward voice; in longer text it will read most comfortably at generous sizes and spacing due to its dark color and tight counters.

The font conveys a classic, authoritative tone with an editorial and heritage feel. Its strong contrast and compact build create a confident, slightly dramatic voice that suggests established institutions, traditional publishing, and refined branding.

The design appears aimed at delivering a conventional serif structure with elevated contrast and a compact, attention-grabbing weight, balancing familiar text-serif cues with display-level drama. It prioritizes authoritative presence and a classic editorial texture over neutrality.

At larger sizes the strong contrast and tight apertures produce a dense, dark color that emphasizes headline impact more than airy readability. The overall spacing and forms feel intentionally compact, helping lines set with a bold, emphatic presence.
