A sturdy text serif with pronounced thick–thin modulation and bracketed serifs that taper into sharp, chiseled terminals. The capitals are broad and steady, with generous bowls (C, O) and assertive arms and crossbars, while the lowercase shows a traditional, readable construction with a two-storey a and g, compact apertures, and a rounded, weighty rhythm. Serifs are clearly articulated and slightly flared, contributing to a dark, even texture in paragraphs. Numerals are substantial and oldstyle-leaning in feel, with strong curves and clear differentiation.

Well-suited to book and long-form editorial typography where a strong, traditional serif texture is desirable. It also performs convincingly in headlines and pull quotes, and can support print branding or packaging that aims for a classic, established voice.

The overall tone is classic and authoritative, evoking traditional publishing and institutional print. Its dark color and emphatic serifs give it a confident, slightly old-fashioned seriousness that reads as trustworthy and editorial.

The design appears intended to deliver a conventional, highly legible serif with a commanding presence, balancing traditional letterforms with a darker, more emphatic weight for strong typographic color in print.

The type maintains a consistent, confident cadence in running text, with relatively tight inner counters that help create a bold page color. Curved joins and bracketing soften the otherwise crisp, engraved-like finishing on terminals and serifs.
