A sturdy serif with pronounced thick–thin modulation and clearly bracketed serifs that broaden into confident, wedge-like terminals. Curves are full and slightly condensed in the bowls, while verticals feel firm and upright, creating a strong page color at text sizes. The lowercase shows traditional, readable proportions with a two-storey a, compact apertures, and a g that leans toward a simpler, single-storey construction; the overall rhythm is even with a slightly bookish texture. Numerals appear traditional and varied in width, with oldstyle figures visible in the set, reinforcing a classic text-serif character.

Well suited to book typography, long-form editorial layouts, and publication design where a classic serif voice is desired. The robust stroke structure also makes it effective for section heads, headlines, and pull quotes, especially when a traditional, high-contrast look is needed.

The tone is traditional and authoritative, with an editorial seriousness that reads as established and trustworthy. Its assertive weight and crisp contrast give it a confident, slightly formal voice suited to institutional or literary contexts rather than playful display.

The overall construction suggests an intention to deliver a conventional, time-tested serif for reading, combining strong contrast and bracketed serifs to create a familiar literary texture. It appears designed to balance classic formality with solid legibility across text and display settings.

The design emphasizes strong serifs and rounded joins, which helps maintain clarity while keeping a distinctly classic flavor. Counters are moderately compact, and the heavy strokes create a dark, confident typographic color in paragraphs.
