A high-contrast serif with a calligraphic, ink-formed construction and clearly bracketed serifs. Strokes swell and taper with a broad-nib rhythm, creating pointed wedges and teardrop-like joins in places, while many terminals finish in soft flares rather than blunt cuts. Capitals are sculptural and slightly expansive, with distinctive curved diagonals and asymmetric stress in rounds; lowercase is compact and steady, with a two-storey “a” and “g” and a relatively small, crisp dot on “i/j.” Numerals follow the same engraved/inked logic, mixing sturdy verticals with fine hairlines and gently rounded curves for an elegant, classical texture in text.

Well-suited to editorial typography where a refined, classical voice is desired, such as magazines, book covers, chapter openers, and pull quotes. The pronounced contrast and sculpted capitals also make it effective for invitations, formal announcements, and boutique branding where an elegant, traditional impression is important.

The overall tone is formal and bookish, combining old-world polish with a human, pen-driven liveliness. Its contrast and tapered details suggest tradition, ceremony, and editorial sophistication rather than utilitarian neutrality.

The design appears intended to translate broad-nib calligraphy into a disciplined serif text/display hybrid, emphasizing contrast, flared finishing strokes, and classical proportions. It aims to deliver a timeless, cultured feel while preserving subtle hand-drawn energy in curves and joins.

At larger sizes the sharp hairlines, tapered joins, and flared ends become prominent stylistic features, giving headings a dramatic, display-like presence. In text, the steady rhythm of stems and consistent serif treatment help maintain a cohesive, literary color despite the expressive stroke modulation.
