A robust serif with pronounced thick–thin modulation and strongly bracketed, wedge-like serifs. Strokes feel sculpted and slightly calligraphic, with beaked terminals on characters like C and F and a distinctive, curved leg on R. Lowercase forms show a double-storey a and g, a modest x-height, and rounded details such as the ball-like terminal on j; overall counters are open and the texture is steady despite the weight. Numerals appear oldstyle with varied heights and prominent curves, matching the lively, organic serif treatment.

It performs best for headlines and subheads in editorial layouts, as well as book covers and promotional print where a classic serif voice is desired. The sturdy forms and open counters also support short-form text such as pull quotes, captions, and packaging copy at moderate sizes.

The font conveys a traditional, bookish authority with an energetic, slightly old-world warmth. Its strong contrast and emphatic serifs give it a confident, editorial presence, suited to serious messaging without feeling sterile.

The design appears intended as a conventional text serif with extra presence: a familiar structure enhanced by high-contrast modeling and confident, bracketed serifs to create impact in editorial and display contexts while retaining readability.

Spacing reads generous in display settings, allowing the heavy strokes to breathe; the wide capitals and sturdy joins help maintain clarity at larger sizes. The ampersand is compact and traditional, and punctuation dots are round and firm, reinforcing the overall weight and contrast.
