A robust serif with pronounced stroke modulation and sculpted, wedge-like bracketed serifs. The forms show a calligraphic undercurrent: terminals often taper into sharp points, while bowls and arches carry a smooth, swelling thick–thin rhythm. Uppercase proportions feel traditional and slightly compact, with strong vertical emphasis; the lowercase uses oldstyle cues such as a two-storey “g” and lively joins, giving the texture a textured, inked quality. Numerals are weighty and rounded, with clear contrast and firm footing, matching the letterforms’ dense color.

Well suited to headlines, subheads, and pull quotes where its contrast and sculpted serifs can read crisply. It also fits book and magazine typography, particularly for titles and short-form text where a traditional, assertive serif voice is desired.

The overall tone is classic and authoritative, suited to established, print-forward typography. Its strong contrast and carved detailing suggest seriousness and tradition, with a slightly dramatic, literary flavor that reads as editorial rather than neutral.

The design appears intended to deliver a traditional serif voice with extra punch: classic proportions and familiar structures paired with heightened contrast, sharp terminals, and a dark, confident texture for impactful editorial typography.

At display sizes the sharp terminals and deep joins create a distinctive, engraved presence; in longer settings the dense weight and active contrast produce a dark, emphatic page color. The italic-like tension in some curves (notably in the lowercase) adds personality without breaking the conventional text-serif structure.
