A robust serif with pronounced thick–thin contrast and a strongly vertical, upright stance. Serifs are bracketed and often wedge-like, giving a carved, slightly calligraphic finish at the ends of stems and arms. Bowls are generous and smooth, with a clear vertical stress, while joins and terminals stay crisp and emphatic. Uppercase proportions feel traditional and weighty; lowercase shows compact forms with firm stems, rounded dots, and occasional ball-like terminals, producing a dense, even texture in text.

Well suited to headlines and subheads where contrast and serif detailing can be appreciated at size, and to editorial or book-cover typography that benefits from a traditional, authoritative voice. It can also serve in branding for institutions or products aiming for heritage and gravitas, especially in display to medium text settings.

The overall tone is classic and authoritative, with a distinctly editorial seriousness. Its sharp, sculpted detailing adds a slightly dramatic, old-world formality that reads as established and confident rather than casual.

The design appears intended as a conventional, high-contrast serif with heightened weight and refined, bracketed serifs to project tradition and authority while maintaining clear readability in composed text.

The numerals and capitals carry strong presence suitable for prominent settings, and the family’s wedge/bracketed serif behavior keeps lines from feeling blunt or slab-like. The rhythm in running text is compact and dark, favoring impact and clarity over light, airy color.
