A compact serif with sturdy, slightly condensed proportions and a strong vertical rhythm. Stems are firm and terminate in flared, wedge-like serifs that feel carved rather than mechanical, with softly bracketed joins and subtly swelling stroke endings. Counters are relatively tight and openings are controlled, giving the letterforms a dense, ink-friendly texture. The lowercase shows a traditional two-storey a and g, short ascenders/descenders, and a centered i dot; figures are robust and align well with the overall compact color.

It performs best where a compact, high-impact serif is desirable—headlines, deck text, posters, and book-cover titling—especially when you want a traditional voice with modern punch. It can also support branding and identity systems that need an established, print-forward feel, provided spacing and size are chosen to preserve clarity in the tighter interior spaces.

The tone is classic and editorial, with a confident, old-style seriousness that reads as established and authoritative. Its dense texture and carved serif treatment suggest tradition and gravitas more than playfulness, making it feel suited to institutional and literary contexts.

The design appears intended to deliver a space-efficient, high-impact serif that blends traditional forms with distinctive flared terminals. The goal seems to be a strong, cohesive text color for display settings while retaining familiar letter shapes and a classic editorial tone.

The family’s character comes from the flared terminals and wedge serifs, which add a slightly calligraphic, engraved quality without introducing strong stroke modulation. The narrow set and tight counters create a dark, continuous color that can feel powerful in headlines and structured layouts.
