A robust serif with strong thick–thin modulation and bracketed, wedge-like serifs that give strokes a carved, slightly calligraphic finish. Curves are generous and rounded, while joins and terminals stay crisp, producing a steady, bookish rhythm in text. Uppercase forms feel broad-shouldered and weighty; lowercase shows a moderate x-height with compact counters and sturdy stems. Numerals are similarly substantial, with rounded bowls and confident vertical stress that reads clearly at display and subhead sizes.

Well-suited to headlines and subheads where a dark, authoritative serif is desired, and it can anchor editorial layouts such as magazines, essays, and feature pages. It also fits book covers and section titles that benefit from a traditional, weighty typographic voice.

The overall tone is classic and editorial, conveying authority and seriousness without becoming ornamental. Its dark color and sculpted serifs suggest traditional print typography—confident, literary, and institution-ready.

The design appears intended as a conventional, dependable serif with extra visual authority: strong contrast, pronounced bracketing, and compact interior space to produce a decisive, print-forward texture in display and editorial contexts.

In larger settings the interior shapes (especially in a, e, s, and 8) appear intentionally tight, creating a dense texture that suits impactful headlines. The capitals maintain a consistent, slightly oldstyle-like stress across rounded letters (C, O, Q), while diagonals (V, W, X) remain firm and stable, supporting a strong typographic presence.
