A compact serif with noticeably modulated strokes and softly bracketed serifs. The forms show calligraphic influence: curves swell and taper, joins feel slightly organic, and terminals often end in subtle hooks or teardrop-like finishes. Counters are moderately open for the width, with a steady rhythm across words; capitals are sturdy and slightly condensed, while lowercase maintains a traditional book-face texture. Numerals and punctuation follow the same high-contrast, tapered logic, giving the set an overall engraved, slightly irregular color without looking distressed.

Well-suited to book and long-form editorial typography where a traditional serif texture is desired, especially in space-conscious columns. It also works effectively for titles, pull quotes, and packaging or stationery that benefits from a classic, slightly calligraphic voice.

The font conveys a classic, literary tone with a hint of hand-made warmth. Its lively stroke modulation and traditional proportions suggest historical printing and editorial seriousness, while the gentle irregularity keeps it approachable rather than austere.

The design appears aimed at reviving an old-style, calligraphy-rooted reading face with a compact footprint and pronounced stroke contrast. It prioritizes a traditional, authoritative texture while retaining enough liveliness in terminals and joins to feel human and crafted.

In text, the narrow set and pronounced contrast create a crisp, dark page color that suits shorter measures and tighter layouts. The italic is not shown; the upright roman carries the character through tapered ascenders/descenders and subtly varied terminals.
