A conventional serif with pronounced thick–thin modulation and bracketed, wedge-like serifs. Capitals are broad and stately with sharp, tapered terminals and a crisp, engraved silhouette, while lowercase shows oldstyle leanings—noticeable ascender presence, softly cupped joins, and a two-storey “a” with a substantial bowl. Curves are smoothly modeled and the stress reads slightly diagonal in rounded forms, giving counters a warm, humanist rhythm despite the high contrast. Numerals mix sturdy verticals with elegant curves, maintaining a cohesive, bookish texture across figures and text.

Well suited to long-form reading in books and editorial layouts where a traditional serif texture is desired. The strong contrast and sculpted caps also make it effective for headlines, mastheads, and brand wordmarks that aim for a classic, premium voice, as well as formal printed materials like programs and invitations.

The overall tone is traditional and composed, evoking editorial seriousness and institutional credibility. Its sharp serifs and polished contrast add a refined, slightly ceremonial feel suited to classic typography rather than casual or utilitarian messaging.

The design appears intended to deliver a familiar, time-tested reading experience with a touch of elegance, combining conventional text-serif proportions with sharper, more dramatic serif and contrast details for presence in display settings.

At text sizes the face produces a dense, even color with clear letterform differentiation; the strong serifs and contrast provide crisp word shapes. The “g” is single-storey and the “y” has a sweeping descender, reinforcing an oldstyle, literary character.
