A distressed blackletter-inspired display face with jagged, uneven contours and pronounced notches that make each stroke look chipped or eroded. The letterforms are upright with chunky, often squared counters and a slightly fluctuating rhythm, as if printed from a worn stamp or carved block. Terminals frequently flare into sharp spikes or blunt wedges, while interior corners stay tight and angular, giving the alphabet a dense, cut-out silhouette. Across the set, the roughened perimeter treatment is consistent, creating a cohesive “aged ink” texture in both uppercase and lowercase.

Best suited for display use such as horror or dark-fantasy titles, Halloween graphics, haunted attraction branding, album art, and game or film posters. It can also work for short pull quotes, chapter openers, or packaging where an aged, ominous tone is desired.

The overall tone is ominous and theatrical, blending medieval letterform cues with a gritty, weathered finish. It reads as ritualistic and storybook-dark—more haunted manuscript than clean gothic—making text feel charged and unsettling even at short lengths.

The design appears intended to evoke an old-world, gothic atmosphere while adding an aggressively distressed surface, as if the type has been corroded by time or smeared by heavy ink. The goal is high mood and texture rather than neutrality, turning simple words into a prop-like element for spooky storytelling.

The distressed edge treatment is strong enough that small sizes may fill in, while larger settings emphasize the chipped texture and spiky terminals. Numerals share the same rugged construction, keeping a uniform voice across display lines.
