A high-contrast serif with sharp, bracketed serifs and pronounced thick–thin modulation. The uppercase forms are stately and fairly wide, with a crisp, engraved feel in the joins and terminals. Lowercase shows compact, sturdy construction with clear differentiation between bowls and stems; the a is double-storey and the g is double-storey with a distinct ear. Curves carry a subtle vertical stress, and several letters (notably C, G, S) end in tapered, ball-like terminals that reinforce the traditional text-serif flavor. Numerals appear oldstyle (varying heights with ascenders/descenders), contributing to a bookish, running-text rhythm.

Well suited to long-form editorial typography such as books, essays, and magazine features, where its traditional proportions and oldstyle numerals support a classic reading experience. It can also serve effectively for headings, pull quotes, and section titles when a formal, literary voice is desired.

The tone is classic and authoritative, evoking printed literature and traditional publishing. Its contrast and sharp detailing give it a refined, slightly dramatic presence that reads as formal and established rather than casual or contemporary.

The design appears intended as a conventional, publication-oriented serif that emphasizes classic typographic cues—high contrast, bracketed serifs, and oldstyle figures—while remaining versatile for both text and larger-size editorial applications.

At display sizes the crisp serifs and ball terminals become a defining stylistic signature, while in paragraphs the strong contrast and generous interior counters help maintain clarity. The overall color is on the darker side due to firm vertical stems, balanced by airy curves and open apertures.
