A high-contrast serif with sharply tapered joins and fine hairlines set against firm, dark stems. Serifs are small and bracketed with a subtly hand-cut, slightly irregular finish that keeps the texture from feeling mechanical. Capitals are elegant and open with rounded bowls and gently flared terminals, while the lowercase shows a compact x-height with tall ascenders and deep, expressive descenders. Curves and diagonals (notably in S, V, W, and y) are drawn with a calligraphic rhythm, and the numerals echo the same contrast and tapered detailing.

Best suited to display and short-to-medium text where contrast and calligraphic detail can be appreciated—such as book covers, magazine headlines, pull quotes, and refined branding. It can also work for formal invitations and titling, especially when set with generous tracking and leading.

The overall tone is classic and literary, balancing refinement with a human, slightly handmade warmth. Its lively stroke modulation and delicate hairlines evoke traditional book typography and editorial gravitas without feeling austere.

The design appears intended to reinterpret old-style, calligraphy-informed proportions with a more dramatic contrast and a crisp, engraved finish. It aims for an elevated, traditional voice while retaining a lively, human rhythm in the letterforms.

At larger sizes the fine detailing and crisp hairlines read as luxurious, while in dense settings the strong contrast produces a shimmering, animated page color. The italic-like energy is achieved without slant, through tapering, curved entry/exit strokes, and pronounced descenders.
