A classic serif with sharp, bracketed serifs and pronounced thick–thin modulation. The strokes show a mostly vertical axis and crisp, tapered terminals, giving the letterforms a clean, engraved feel. Capitals are wide and stately with strong horizontals in E/F/T and a neatly balanced, open C/G; the lowercase has compact bowls and a moderate x-height, with a double-storey a and g, a narrow, pointed w, and a lightly curved, calligraphic feel in r and s. Numerals are oldstyle-like in proportion and rhythm, integrating smoothly with running text rather than standing as rigid lining figures.

Well suited to long-form reading in books and literary publishing, as well as magazine and newspaper-style editorial layouts where a refined, traditional texture is desired. It can also support formal materials—programs, invitations, and institutional branding—especially when set with generous leading and comfortable text sizes.

The overall tone is traditional and authoritative, with an unmistakably bookish, editorial voice. Its high-contrast drawing and crisp serifs convey refinement and formality, lending text a composed, slightly ceremonial character.

The design appears intended as a conventional, versatile text serif that delivers a familiar, authoritative reading experience while adding a touch of sharp, high-contrast elegance for display lines and headings.

Spacing and rhythm read even in paragraph settings, with clear differentiation between similar forms (e.g., I/J, O/Q) and a distinctive Q tail that adds personality without becoming ornate. The design maintains a consistent serif treatment across uppercase, lowercase, and figures, supporting a cohesive texture in long passages.
