A robust serif with strong vertical stress and crisp, bracketed serifs. Strokes show pronounced thick–thin contrast, with compact counters and confident, slightly condensed proportions in many capitals. The design includes small wedge and beak-like terminals, occasional ball terminals (notably on forms like the lowercase a), and subtle notched/ink-trap-like cut-ins where curves meet stems, giving the black shapes a carved, print-oriented feel. Lowercase forms are sturdy and fairly upright, with a moderate x-height, deep joins, and a textured rhythm in word settings; numerals appear oldstyle with varied heights and descenders.

Well suited to headlines, editorial titles, and book-cover typography where a traditional serif voice is desired with extra heft. It can also work for posters and packaging that benefit from a classic, print-forward look, especially when set with generous tracking or at larger sizes to keep counters open.

The tone is traditional and authoritative, with a distinctly editorial, bookish character. Its sharp serifs and high contrast read as formal and established, while the slight ‘inked’ detailing adds a touch of vintage warmth rather than a purely modern polish.

The design appears intended to deliver a conventional text-serif foundation with added weight and contrast for impact, while retaining traditional proportions and serif structures. The carved/notched detailing suggests an aim to echo inked printing behavior and to create a recognizable, slightly vintage texture in both all-caps and mixed-case settings.

In text, the heavy weight and tight inner spaces create a dark, emphatic color that favors larger sizes and shorter line lengths. The distinctive join details and notched intersections become a visible signature in display use, especially in round letters and at stroke transitions.
