A robust serif with pronounced contrast between thick verticals and hairline joins, set on a sturdy, wide footprint. Serifs are sharply tapered and often wedge-like, with noticeable bracketing in places and occasional flared or beaked terminals. The forms lean on strong vertical stems and deep, sculpted curves, creating clear light–dark patterning; counters are relatively tight for the weight, and joins show crisp, chiseled transitions. Several lowercase letters feature ball terminals and curl-like finials (notably in f, j, y), adding a decorative edge while keeping an overall upright posture.

Best suited to headlines, titling, posters, and other short-to-medium display settings where its contrast and sculpted serifs can read as intentional texture. It can work for editorial applications such as magazine features or book covers, especially when used with generous leading and careful tracking to keep the dark color from becoming overly dense.

The tone is bold and attention-commanding, with an old-style, display-leaning elegance. High contrast and sharp serifs give it a refined, editorial seriousness, while the rounded terminals and curled details introduce a slightly theatrical, vintage flavor.

The design appears aimed at delivering a classic serif voice with heightened contrast and added terminal flair for impact. It prioritizes bold presence and distinctive detail over neutrality, balancing traditional proportions with decorative touches that help it stand out in display typography.

In text, the strong contrast and narrow internal spaces create dense texture, making spacing and line length feel important for readability. Numerals are heavy and highly stylized, matching the letterforms’ chiseled rhythm and making them particularly prominent in headings and pull quotes.
