A robust serif with pronounced thick–thin modulation and bracketed serifs that flare into wedge-like terminals. The letterforms show a slightly calligraphic stress with generous joins and rounded transitions, giving the strokes a sculpted, ink-on-paper feel rather than a mechanical one. Lowercase forms are sturdy and compact, with clear two-storey a and g, a deep-shouldered n/m rhythm, and crisp entry/exit strokes on r, s, and f. Numerals read as oldstyle (varying heights with ascenders/descenders), reinforcing a bookish texture and a lively baseline silhouette in running text.

Well suited to editorial design where a classic serif voice is desired, including magazine features, book typography, and essay-like layouts. Its strong presence also makes it effective for headlines, pull quotes, and cover lines that need a traditional, authoritative tone.

The overall tone is traditional and confident, leaning toward literary and institutional rather than playful or techy. Its strong contrast and assertive serifs create a sense of gravitas, making the page feel composed, deliberate, and editorial.

The design appears aimed at delivering a conventional, literature-forward serif with emphatic contrast and sturdy proportions, balancing refined details with a dark, stable text color for confident reading and strong typographic hierarchy.

At display sizes the sharp serifs and high-contrast details become prominent and dramatic, while in text the dense color and compact spacing tendencies create a dark, steady rhythm. Round letters like O/C and bowls in b/d/p have generous interiors, helping counters stay open despite the heavy impression.
